KATHUA, Mar 10: Asserting that democratic decentralization through the Panchayati Raj Institutions has been instrumental in giving new direction to the development of villages, Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma while addressing public grievance camp at village Bohra said that through the coming up of functional PRIs pace of development has gained momentum.
After hearing patiently the problems and demands of the inhabitants of Bohra, Juthana and adjoining Panchayats, Dr Sharma assured redressal of their genuine demands. He said Government has put in place various schemes and programme for far off areas to connect and equip these areas with basic amenities. He called upon the people to play their role in participatory development by creating assets within their areas through MGNREGA.
Responding to the demands of the people, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said 21 Anganwari Centres has been opened in Bohra and Juthana Panchayats in recent years. He said three water schemes are already in place to cater the water need of the people. He said road works taken up under PMGSY and NABARD will solve the connectivity problem of the people to the great extent. He assured that the long pendency of pension cases of widow, handicapped and old age will be cleared up in one go in this budget.
He announced Rs 6 lakhs under CDF for six wards of Bohra Panchayat for development works. He also announced 34 electric poles for the area under CDF. Dr Manohar Lal Sharma also announced Rs 20 lakh for Lahri-Ted road.
Dr Sharma directed the Assistant Commisioner (dev) Kathua to clear up pending MGNREGA payments. He also directed him to issue 100 crates each to Bohra and Juthana Panchayats.
