SAMBA, Sept 18: People of Barota Camp in Ramgarh sector today staged a strong protest demonstration against the District Administration and Power Development Department.
Scores of the inhabitants of Barota Camp today assembled under the leadership of Sarpanch Prem Pal Palla and raised slogans against the District Administration and PDD. They alleged that the PDD is removing the power transformers installed on their land on the orders of the District Administration.
“Our paddy crop is about to ripe and within 20-25 days, it will be ready for harvesting but the PDD is hell bent to destroy our crops by removing power transformers on the orders of District Administration,” they added.
While talking with media persons, Sarpanch Prem Pal Palla said that they are refugees of PoK and this land which is close to International Border (IB) was allotted to them by the Government as due to dense vegetation there it was a safe place for the infiltration by the Pakistani militants.
He said that at the time of allotment, the Government has promised us to give us propriety rights of this land but only ‘girdwari’ was done and now the District Administration has also cancelled those ‘girdwaries’ and trying to snatch our land, which is the only source for their bread and butter.
