Sharda Radio organises function to release Shad’s new Leela Cassette

JAMMU, Sept 18: The new Leela Cassette of Prem Nath Shad a well known writer and poet was released at a function here, today organized by Radio Sharda 90.4 Fm.
The cassette was released by Kiran Wattal, chairman, Vishaw Kashmiri Hindu Samaj and Avtar Jyotshi. Others present included Bihari Kak, Jai Krishan Koul Bezan, Jai Krishan Raina and Bharti Zaroo all well known actors. A galaxy of artists and writers attended the function which was presided over by Ramesh Hangloo, Director Radio Sharda.
The Leelas (Bhajans in Kashmiri) in the cassette were sung by Shazia Bashir and Altaf Sahil. Speaking on the occasion P N Shad said that the cassette will be soon available in the market.
Addressing the function Kiran Wattal highlighted the role of Radio Sharda in preserving the Kashmir culture and language in exile and connecting the community putting up in different parts of the globe to its moorings. He said the Sharda Radio deserves all credit for keeping community connected to its culture, traditions and Kashmir. He however urged the management of the Radio to highlight the shortcomings in the system more forcefully by becoming the forceful voice of the people of J&K. He said it is heartening that Radio Sharda is not only broadcasting the programmes in Kashmiri but Dogri also which have become popular among the local people too.
Avtar Krishan another writer also threw light on various programmes of Radio Sharda. He made special reference to its programmes like “Pend Teh Puran” and “Wangijwore” and said they remind the Radio Kashmir Srinagar’s famous feature “Zoneh Dab” which made the Radio Kashmir popular among its listeners in sixties and seventies. Radio Sharda has become a house hold name among Kashmir people now, he added. Adarsh Ajit an art critic said criticism is essence for improvement and one should not hesitate in criticizing the things. Those who shirk criticism can’t make improvement in their working, he added.
In his presidential address Ramesh Hangloo highlighted the role of Radio Sharda and said that all efforts will be made that the Radio will come to the expectations of the people. He said it was only possible with the dedication and hard work of the artists associated with Radio Sharda that it received two awards for its progarmmes from Government of India recently. He expressed the hope that the artists and staff associated with Radio will work with same zeal and zest to take the Radio to touch new heights.
On the occasion the artists associated with the Radio were also honoured by the chief guest. The vote of thanks was proposed by Vijay Kaul, general secretary Peer Panchal.
