IGP Traffic for strict implementation of amended MV Act

SRINAGAR, Sept 19: IGP Traffic, Alok Kumar today convened a meeting to review traffic scenario in Srinagar city and major towns of Kashmir.
On the occasion, IGP stressed upon the officers to enforce newly amended M.V Act to deal with traffic violators. He directed challaning officers to wear body worn cameras while on duty. Moreover, officers were directed to conduct awareness among public and hold meetings with transporters regarding overloading in PSVs and trucks to make them abide traffic rules.
IGP directed the officials to take effective action against overloading in PSVs, without seat belt, without helmet, using mobile phone while driving, overloading in trucks, driving by minors stunt bikers etc.
He expressed serious concern over traffic congestion in busy areas particularly around hospitals and passed directions to the concerned to ensure that these areas are free from on-road parking and traffic jamming.
Besides, re-organization of J&K cadre was discussed threadbare in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by SSP Traffic City Srinagar, Tahir Gilani, SP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, DySPs, DTIs/of Traffic City Srinagar and Traffic Police Rural Kashmir.
