SAMBA, Sept 20: After implementation of the new Motor Vehicle Act, the Rural Traffic Police laid a special nakka near New Hospital Road where it challaned 50 vehicles in various offences and realized an amount of Rs 20,000 from the violators as fine.
Several vehicles were challaned for over-loading while some were booked for offences like driving without licenses, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing crash helmets, triple riding, riding without helmet, using pressure horn, driving without insurance, over speeding and not wearing seat belts.
The drive launched under the guidelines of SP Rural Mohan Lal Kaith and Deputy SP Traffic Kathua-Samba range.
DTI Samba, Vinod Kumar has warned that if any person is found violating the traffic rules, Traffic Police will take strict action against them under law. He appealed to the people to follow the traffic rules and also avoid the overloading.
