JAMMU, Sept 23: Young Writers Guild Jammu organized a literary meet at Abhinav Gupt Memorial Hall, Sharda Peeth Complex, Bantalab, near here. The meet was organized to pay tribute to Kashmiri Pandit martyrs through poetry and short stories. The function was attended by a galaxy of writers and poets, who apart from paying tribute to the martyrs, also expressed the pain of forced exodus.
Kundan Paras delivered the welcome address. Vinod Kumar conducted the proceedings. The function was presided over by Prof. P.N. Trisal while P.N. Shad was the guest of honour.
The poets who recited their poems include B.N. Abilash, B.K.Sanyasi, Ashok Dilbar, Ramesh Aagur, M.K.Maharaj, A.K.Zadu, Shyam Bihari, Rajinder Aagosh, Kusum Dhar, Dr. Ramesh Nirash, Sujata Koul, Ashok Gowher, Brij Hali, B.L. Arpan, Ashok Koul, A.K.Naz, Santosh Shah Nadaan, Dr. Premi Rumani, Satish Safeer, Kundan Paras and Er.Vinod.
The writers who presented their short stories include T.N. Ganjoo Wishwas, M.L. Pandita and Rinko Koul. Tej Sagar paid his tribute through a talk.
In his address P.N. Shad shared his experiences of writing the pain of exile. He read his article on the subject ” Raaven Tyol ” .
In his presidential address Prof. P.N. Trisal delivered an impressive lecture on the subject. He said that during last 30 years of their life in exile, Kashmiri Pandits have written hundreds of new books on the pain of exile. This literature in exile is a very important and powerful component of Kashmiri literature. Be it prose or poetry, most of this ‘Literature in Exile’ is full of nostalgia, the sorrows of displacement from the ancestral roots and the hardships of life post migration. In the recent years some youths of the community have also picked up pen to express their thoughts and feelings through prose and poetry.
