PNB officers protest for highlighting demands, issues

JAMMU, Sept 24: Punjab National Bank Officers Association (affiliated to AIPNBOF and AIBOA) today held a two hour token demonstration in front of PNB Circle office.
The demonstration was held to highlight the long overdue and often raised issues, which include providing security to vulnerable branches and adequate sanctioning of staff to branches, where work is acutely suffering for want of adequate staff.
The demonstration was held after office hours, during which the protesting employees accused the Management, particularly the Circle Management of total apathy in solving the issues confronting the Bank and its staff.
“The Circle Management often backs out from the commitments it arrives at with the Association, thus creating a situation of confrontation with its own staff, ” the alleged and added that the Bank management’s open support and its promotion and displaying enthusiasm in entertaining false and concocted complaints against the officer staff was something that hurt the staff the most. The demonstrators demanded a stop to all such anti staff intrigues and practices.
The demonstrators were addressed by Com Ashwani Pradhan, General Secretary of the Association, who highlighted the issues and demand, including implementation of roaster system in letter n spirit, implementation of transfer policy as per HRD Cir No 434, resolving IT Issues on top priority, providing adequate security and adequate staff to Branches, unnecessary delay in sanctioning of Leaves and Lease accommodation, etc.
The Association also expressed its disapproval of the management’s short sighted policy of confrontation against its own staff. It urged the management to act reasonably and with farsightedness, in the present situation, when the banking scenario in the country is undergoing a reform.
