OBC people protest, demand 27 percent reservation

SAMBA, Sept 24: The people belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) category today held a strong protest demonstration against the State Government at Sub District Magistrate Office, Vijaypur in district Samba today.

A large number of people of Other Backward Classes assembled outside the Sub District Magistrate Office, Vijaypur and raised slogans against the State Government. They demanded immediately implementation of political and 27 percent reservation in accordance to Mandal Commission recommendations. The people of the OBC category also submitted a memorandum to Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik through Sub District Magistrate, Vijaypur, which stated that now Jammu -Kashmir has become a Union Territory and hence 27 percent reservation be given to OBCs in accordance with Mandal Commission report.
People of OBC category have also demanded political reservation and 27 percent reservation in Government services both in Central as well as State Government services.
Bhushan Lal an OBC leader said that the political reservation for the people of OBC community in India is 27% and in J&K they were given two percent reservations, which is a grave injustice and discrimination with them.
