JAMMU, Sept 25: Akhnoor police busted high end vehicles lifting gang with the arrest of two persons.
This was stated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Tejinder Singh while interacting with media persons here today.
Divulging the details, Singh informed that on September 17 this year, a complaint was lodged by Raj Kumar, son of Dina Nath of Mandrian Tehsil Maira Mandrian with Police Station Akhnoor stating that his motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AU-4032 which was parked near Neelkanth Clinic Akhnoor has been stolen.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 215/19 under Section 379 RPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.

During the course of investigation, a suspect namely Tajuddin alias Guddu (30), son of Biral Shah of Bihar, at present Rani Talab Digiana Jammu was arrested under Section 54 CrPC, who during sustained interrogation confessed his involvement in theft of said motor cycle, SSP said, adding that apart from this during investigation he divulged about number of stolen high end vehicles from across the country mainly from Delhi NCR and latter sold them in J&K.
SSP informed that for such stolen vehicles, FIRs stands registered in different Police Stations of Delhi NCR.
“Subsequently, involvement of one another person identified as Roshan Lal, son of Waryam Chand of Serh Tehsil Akhnoor was also made out in the instant case who was arrested by a team from Police Station Akhnoor. Upon the disclosure of arrested accused persons, the potential racket has been unearthed with recovery of 13 high end vehicles like Fortuners, XUV, Innova, Breza, etc from different parts of Jammu and the approximate cost of recovered vehicle is Rs 2.6 crores”, SSP disclosed.
Singh further stated that the accused persons supported by a gang of thieves from Chandigarh and Punjab lifted these vehicles and supplied to them, adding that after changing of essential vehicle details like engine number, chassis number, registration number and disposing them off in J&K with altered essential vehicle details in J&K.
There may be some more stolen vehicles from outside State, which are sold to consumers in J&K and for that the investigation is going on, SSP maintained.
Efforts are being made to arrest the fugitive conduits belonging to other States mainly Punjab who are part of this vehicle lifting and further selling them in J&K, SSP Tejinder Singh asserted.
“Since Jammu and Kashmir is a border state and security sensitive, such type of vehicles can be misused anywhere. The people need to be very careful while purchasing vehicles from any unknown person”, he said.
