BSP demands reservation for OBCs in Municipal bodies

JAMMU, Mar 11: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has expressed serious concern over the notice issued by Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu on February 15, 2013 regarding reservation of wards for women, Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes, quoting it a great discrimination with Other Backward Classes (OBCs). The party demanded reservation for OBCs in all Municipal bodies.
Chairing a Party meeting held here at Party headquarters, which was attended by a large number of OBC people from district Samba, Jammu and Udhampur, State vice-president, Rattan Lal Chargotra said the notice issued by the CEO regarding reservation of wards gave severe pain to other backward classes, lamenting that the State OBCs, which constitute about 40% of the State population, is not given any representation in roaster for reservation of wards in Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Municipal Committees.
He condemned the Government for adopting apathetic attitude towards State OBCs and said that BSP would demand reservation in each and every body of Municipal area for the OBCs in the House.
