JAMMU, Mar 11: Underlining contributions of Guru Ravi Dass Ji in promoting an egalitarian society, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said Guru Ji was preeminent saint of Bhakti movement in the country and gave message of love, compassion and devotion to supreme lord. He said teachings of Ravi Dass ji spread the message of universal brotherhood and equality.
“Great saints through their teachings fought against the social evils and dogmas prevalent in the society and have shown the righteous way of living based on mutual co-existence, love and devotion to God,” he added.
He was addressing a huge gathering of devotees at Ravi Dass Mandir, Khour. The function was organized to celebrate birth anniversary of Guru ji.
Calling upon civil society at large to follow the path shown by great saints, the Deputy Chief Minister said that real tribute to the saints is to adopt their teachings in life and work for establishing an egalitarian society.
He said saints besides preaching a spiritual way of living, also taught for establishing a class less society in which all human beings are equal before the God and nobody is supreme by birth.
Listing various social sector schemes launched by the Government, Tara Chand said with the active support of Central Government a number of welfare schemes have been launched in the State, so as to provide succor to those living Below Poverty Line.
“The Government is committed to ameliorate the lot of the marginalized and all out efforts are afoot to take the development revolution to all nooks and corners of the State,” he added.
Stressing on upgrading rural infrastructure, Tara Chand said that road network in the area would get boosted with the completion of up gradation work of both Jourian as well as Pallanwala roads. The progress of road up-gradation project for both the roads had got delayed due to technical reasons which have been sorted out and soon the roads would be completed to desired specifications, he added.
He said vital bridge project of connecting Khour with Pargwal area is under active consideration of the Government.
Later, detailed inspections of various ongoing development works of model cluster village Pallanwala was done and on the spot instructions were issued for maintaining quality and work schedules.
Directing executing agencies to speed up the pace of work, the Deputy Chief Minister said Rs. 16 crore has been announced for the model village and no delay would be tolerated in the prestigious project. He said double shifts should be followed so that works gets completed within the stipulated time frame.
