KATHUA, Mar 11: Communication and Capacity Development Unit, J&K in association with WEMTEP (ill Extra Ordinary Make The Earth Prosperous) organized a free water testing camp regarding water sanitation at Sports Stadium Kathua today.
District Development Commissioner, Kathua Zahida Parveen Khan inaugurated the awareness cum training camp.
Live demonstrations of water testing technique using field water testing kit was given by the officials of the department. Over 190 samples of water from the Kathua town and adjoining villages were tested during the programme, out of which the samples of water from the shallow hand pumps in the town were found with high percentage of some parameters than the permissible limits. While the samples of PHE water were found almost upto the mark.
While speaking on the occasion, Ms Zahida said that human activities have polluted the natural resource of water. She said that it is the duty of every citizen to take care of water resources and help to keep them neat and clean.
