Auto driver injured in stone pelting dies

Srinagar March 12: An auto-rickshaw driver who was injured in stone pelting in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district last week died in Srinagar SKIMS hospital late last night.

Police have arrested four youth who had attacked him. They have been booked under murder charges.

Police said that 24-year-old auto driver; Riyaz Ahmad Khanday of Aang Matipora in district Anantnag was injured on March 8 when he was ferrying passengers.

Police said that Khanday was attacked by few youth of village Kralpora Mattan at Tikbagh Mattan for defying a strike call given by seperatists. He was removed to SKIMS hospital for treatment where he died late last night.

Police said that four youth were arrested after auto-driver and the passenger identified them.
