JAMMU, Oct 1: National Council member of Aam Aadmi Party, Deep Singh has alleged that all the traditional parties are the chips of the same block.
While referring to the reports on ‘BDC elections in J&K’ AAP leader during a meeting here today said that these polls are being held in hush-hush manner and that too, on party basis. He expressed great dismay and wonder that soon after abrogation of Articles 370 & 35-A, all political leaders including former Chief Ministers have been detained, except BJP leaders, and restrictions under Section 144 RPC are still in force in Valley and all political activities including public meetings, protests, dharans are banned. The holding of elections for BDC Ombudsman on Party basis, is any body’s guess that all this exercise is to help ruling Party at the centre.
The speakers also pointed out that as per Government figures as many 1057 Panchayats across the State have only one Panch or Sarpanch elected and have fallen short to form the quorum, the forceful push of Governor’s administration to go ahead with BDC election process, is a clear signal to give benefit to only one political Party that is BJP and that too when 50% of Blocks don’t have regular BDO’s. This is just a futile exercise just to appease the bosses in Delhi.
They further said that several successive State Govts in the past reduced the Panchayati Raj Act as a toy in the hands of several political leaders who made amendments after amendments to suit their political interests without taking into account the real concept of decentralization of powers.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting include Ram Singh Chauhan, Farooq Ahmed Banday, Kuldeep Kumar Rao, SS Jamwal, Om Prakash Khajuria, Parmveer Singh, Arun Malhotra and RP Khajuria.
