Woman’s body exhumed from grave after 25 days

RAJOURI, Oct 1: The police today exhumed the dead body of a woman from her grave in Thannamandi area of Rajouri and started fresh investigations into the case.
Official sources said that a woman namely- Gulsareen Akhtar, wife of Vakil Ahmed, resident of Kallar Behrote in Thannamandi died under mysterious circumstances on September 5, 2019. The members of in-laws family buried her in hush-hush manner while some neighbours and parents of the woman alleged some foul play.
They approached the police at Thannamandi and claimed that it was murder and start proper investigation but after receiving no good response, they moved to the court and filed an application. On the directions of the court, the police party led by SDPO Sajjad Khan in presence of Ist Class Magistrate exhumed the body from the graveyard today.
A Medical team from Thannamandi Hospital conducted on the spot postmortem of the body and then buried it in the same grave after some time. The family members from parents side of the woman were also present there. The police said that report has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory at Jammu.
A case under Section 174 CrPC has been registered in this connection. The police said that they will wait for the outcome of the Forensic report from Jammu.
