SKUAST-J scientists awarded in Thailand

JAMMU, Oct 6: FSR Centre of SKUAST-Jammu has been bestowed with international awards at Pattaya, Thailand.
The awards were presented during an International Conference on “Sustainable Agriculture Production for Food, Nutritional and Livelihood Security: A Challenge for Asian Farmers”, which was organized recently by Pragati International Scientific Research Foundation, Meerut, India.
Dr Dileep Kachroo, Chief Scientist & Head, FSR received prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the farmer community with respect to doubling farmers’ income while Dr NP Thakur, Chief Scientist, FSR got distinguish award for his contribution in the field of Soil Science.
Dr AK Gupta, Chief Scientist, FSR was given best oral presentation award whereas Dr Parshotam Kumar of FSR of SKUAST-J was bestowed with best thesis award.
The PhD thesis titled “Effect of different resource conservation practices on growth, yield and productivity of different cropping systems” of Agronomy discipline was adjudged as one of the best thesis among various thesis submitted by different scholars.
The thesis mainly focused on conservation, agriculture and crop diversification, which is a step lead for mitigation and adaptation of climate change and the scholar, has worked on one of the approved experiment under AICRPIFS.
