JAMMU, Mar 12: Police today foiled the attempt by ETT stakeholders who were trying to take out a protest march from J&K Board of School Education towards the State Assembly in Civil Secretariat, here.
Police did not allow the protesters to move further from Rehari area after the latter reached there in form of a procession. Raising slogans in support of their demand for registration of admitted students and their early exams, the protesters held a strong demonstration there.
Earlier, a number of ETT stakeholders assembled at the venue of ongoing protest dharna under the banner of Joint Action Committee of ETT Colleges inside the BOSE premises.
However, as soon as they came out of the BOSE premises for scheduled march and Assembly gherao, police stopped them and did not allow to move further.
While addressing the protesters, the JAC leaders appealed the Government, particularly the Education Minister Tara Chand to look into their issue and address the genuine demand of ETT stakeholders, who comprise thousands of students and a number of ETT Colleges.
Hari Dutt Shishu alleged that the outgoing BOSE Chairman Sheikh Bashir was responsible for the confusion over the issue as the latter misrepresented facts regarding number of students before the higher authorities.
Others who addressed the gathering, included Munish Pathania, Janak Bharti, Pitamber Singh and Rakesh.
