‘Set up National Wage Commission’

JAMMU, Oct 10: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) and All J&K Low Paid Govt Employees Federation (LPEF) have urged upon the Governor’s Administration to release 5% DA installment in favour of employees and pensioners of Jammu and Kashmir.
President of the NMC, Subash Shastri in a meeting of the workers held in Gandhi Nagar today, urged the Governor to release pending installment of 5 % DA in favour of State employees and pensioners, as the same has been approved by the Union Cabinet. Shastri said that Jammu & Kashmir, under Governor’s Administration, was the first State of country to release previous instalment of DA due from January 2019, after it was released by the Central Government.
He said that State Government has already made a provision for allocation of funds for DA instalments. He requested the Government to release the same in favour of employees and pensioners of the State Government at the earliest, so that salaried class/pensioners can get a sigh of relief from rising prices and inflation.
Shastri also demanded immediate acceptance of Ashok Lavasa Committee recommendations in favour of both Central/State Governments employees and pensioners, enhancing Medical allowance to Rs 1000 for State pensioners on the pattern of Central Govt pensioners, release of all pending wages of daily rated workers working in various departments of the State Govt beside enhancing the wages of the daily wagers to Rs 600 per day and releasing of pay/pension of current month well before Diwali festival and setting up off National Wage Commission involving new wage policy throughout the country once for all.
Meanwhile, Low Paid Employees Federation has also urged upon the Governor to release 5 % DA in favour of employees and pensioners of the State.
Abdul Majid Khan, president of the Federation has stated that Centre has already release one installment of 5 % in favour of its own employees and pensioners, the State Administration should also follow them without any more delay. He said due to price hike the low paid employees are already facing crisis. He also demanded enhancement of medical allowance of employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month besides regularization of daily wagers and other temporary employees.
