JAMMU, Oct 11: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) State president, Rajesh Gupta today demanded immediate rollback of the toll tax being levied on vehicles at Sarore.
A newly constructed toll plaza on the four-lane highway at Sarore, Samba was today made operational to tax vehicles passing through it.
In a handout, NDPI leader urged the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to suspend the tax levied at Sarore toll plaza. He said that taxation in the form of multiple Toll Plazas is unaffordable for the common masses particularly those who had to commute on regular basis between Jammu, Samba and Lakhanpur.
He also called the toll tax as ‘unjust and unfair’.
Gupta said that rather than shutting down Ban Toll, the Government has embarked upon the construction of two additional Toll Plazas at Hiranagar and Sarore.
