6902 girl students covered under “Beti Anmol Scheme”: DyCM

JAMMU, Mar 13: A total of 6902 girl students of poor families have been brought under the ambit of “Beti Anmol Scheme” in the State and awareness programmes will be launched to provide benefit to more students.
This information was provided by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, who is also the Minister Incharge School Education Department in response to the question of Congress MLA Indu Pawar in the Legislative Assembly today.
“The scheme has not been launched in Jammu and Samba as there are no educationally backward blocks in these districts”, Tara Chand said, adding “so far 1663 poor girl students are getting benefits under this scheme in Jammu province while as 5239 in Kashmir division”.
Replying to the supplementaries raised by Jammu State Morcha MLA Ashwani Kumar, Jugal Kishore of BJP, National Panthers Party’s Harshdev and Congress Member Ashok Kumar, the Deputy Chief Minister said that to cover maximum number of poor girl students under the scheme a vigorous mass awareness scheme would be launched in all blocks. He, however, requested the members that they should also play their role in this regard for highlighting the benefits of welfare schemes including Beti Anmol Scheme in their public addresses.
