CME on ‘New Advances in Neurosciences’ organized

JAMMU, Oct 13: Highlighting the recent developments on “New Advances in Neurosciences”, Medanta Institute of Neurosciences organized Scientific Interactive Program (CME) in Jammu under their Continuous Medical Education Program.
Dr VP Singh, Chairman Neurosciences, Dr Sushil Razdan Senior Visiting Consultant and Advisor, and Dr Anshu Mahajan Senior Consultant Neuro Intervention, specially visited the City of Temples to share their experiences on the topic “New Advances in Neurosciences”.
Kavinder Gupta (former Deputy CM), presided over the function as chief guest whereas Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, graced the function as special invitee. The technical session was chaired jointly by Dr Subash C Gupta (former HoD Neurology), Dr Anil Sharma, Senior Neurosurgeon and Dr JP Singh Senior Neurosurgeon of Jammu and Kashmir.
The keynote speaker from host Medanta – The Medicity, Dr VP Singh spoke on the subject “Advances in Neurosurgery” with special reference to J&K and discussed various available treatments of complicated Brain Tumors/ Brain Stroke and epilepsies. Dr Singh shared his experience on 5 major advancements in brain surgery since 2000. He said advances in Brain Tumor therapies offer speedier recoveries and Novel Technologies advance Brain Surgery to benefit patients.
Dr Sushil Razdan; an eminent Neuro Physician and the son of the soil, enlightened the audience with medical aspects of stroke. Giving the brief summary, Dr Razdan said these include medical management, cognition, communication, behavior, mobility, self-care and the psychosocial care.
Dr Anshu Mahajan gave his presentation on the subject “Neuro Intervention in Stroke/Aneurysm”. He discussed various common epilepsy disorders in children. The basic approach, newer treatment of epilepsy, new drugs, role of ketogenic diet in refractory epilepsy was discussed and various queries regarding best available treatments were answered evidently.
The CME was witnessed by Senior Consultants from GMC Jammu, ASCOMS & DHS Jammu. Registrars and PG students from GMC participated actively in Question-Answer session. The program was conducted by Dr Gaurav Vaid, a renowned Physiotherapist from Jammu.
