Teacher murders wife

JAMMU, Oct 13: A teacher serving in a Government Girls School today murdered his wife with a sharp edged weapon in Gujjar Nagar area of Jammu City.
“The deceased has been identified as Iqbala Begum (40) wife of Mohd Yaqoob Shah, resident of Kishtwar and was presently residing with her husband at Gujjar Nagar,” a police official said, adding, that the deceased underwent surgery for a stone yesterday.
He said that the deceased was 2nd wife of Mohd Yaqoob Shah and they had no good relation with each other for past quite some time. Both used to fight with each other on minor issues. “The accused, who is a Government teacher, again had a quarrel with Iqbala Begum this evening. Both exchanged heated arguments and in a fit of rage, Mohd Yaqoob Shah stabbed his wife with a knife about four times, resulting into her on the spot death,” he added.
The official said that the accused has been arrested and weapon of offence seized, and a case of murder has been registered against him at police station Peer Mitha while the body of the deceased woman has been sent for postmortem at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
