JAMMU, Oct 13: National State Govt Employees Federation (NSGEF) has urged upon the State authorities not to change the service condition of the J&K employees after converting it into UT and release the wages of the daily rated workers (DRWs) of PHE,I&FC Department.
In a meeting of the Federation held here today, discussed the issues of the State employees. They stressed upon the State Government not to change the status and service conditions of the State Govt employees in the new system of UT. It was further demanded that all the additional benefits, which are being extended to the Central Govt employees, should also be provided to the State Government employees. The members demanded that Central Minimum Wage Act be implemented in the newly carved out Union Territory.
The Federation urged upon the State Governor and the Advisor concerned to release at least 10 months wages of the daily rated/ consolidated workers of the PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department before Diwali festival. These hapless workers have remained unpaid for the last more than 55 months and are facing starvation. They will not be able to celebrate festival along with their children unless paid their long pending wages by the Government, a Federation member maintained .
The general secretary of the Federation, Subhash Verma expressed strong resentment over the slow process of regularisation of the daily wagers, adopted by the Empowerment Committee. He expressed that not even a single daily wager of PHE Deptt has been regularised by this committee under SRO-520 in last two years. He alleged that Commissioner/ Secretary PHE,I&FC has failed to resolve the pending issues of the employees. His main focus is only on transfers of engineers and other staff of the Department, he added.
Meanwhile, Federation has extended full support to the PDD employees in their struggle against unbundling of the department.
