‘Valley students being fleeced’

SRINAGAR, Mar 13: People’s Forum, an NGO here today accused some persons of charging money from the students of the Kashmir valley in order to receive higher education under the Prime Minister’s special scholarship scheme meant for the students of Jammu and Kashmir.
“To provide higher education to 25,000 students of Jammu and Kashmir in five-years for different courses in outside State, under Prime Minister’s special scheme scholarship quota, some persons in Kashmir are charging money from students for enrolling them for the scheme,” said Malik Imtiyaz, Chairman People’s Forum.
Imtiyaz said that some advertisements were published last month by some vested interest persons in local newspapers asking the students to deposit Rs 250 for enrolling themselves for the Prime Minister’s special scheme.
