UDHAMPUR, Oct 15: Shopkeepers held protest against the administration of the Municipal Council Udhampur (MCU) for alleged corrupt practices.
A large number of the shopkeepers gathered on Court Road near bus stand and held protest. The protest was led by President Beopar Mandal Udhampur Jitender Vermani.
The protesting shopkeepers raised slogans against authorities of Municipal Council Udhampur and later blocked the Court Road.
While speaking, Jitender Vermani said has a large number of labourers having reharies are selling food articles, fruits and dry fruits and this practice is not only illegal but unhygienic also.
He further said that some black sheep of the MCU are behind this dirty play due to which a large number of shopkeepers are suffering with poor sales of their business.
Beopar Mandal President appealed to the SSP Udhampur for appropriate action against this illegal business being run by the labourers.
On getting information, a police team along with officials of MCU rushed to the spot and removed illegal reharis from different parts of the town.
Later, the protesting shopkeepers called off their protest and opened the road.
