NEW DELHI, Oct 17 : Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said today that the “Prophets of doom” are rattled by the peaceful abrogation of Article 370 and alleged that, in heart of hearts, these worthies had been wishfully hoping that there would be a massive upheaval to derail the Modi government’s bold initiative, but since nothing of that sort has happened in the last two months, they are now indulging in connivance of silence to facilitate the Pak mischief in Jammu & Kashmir.
In an exclusive interview to India Today, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh questioned the selective condemnation of human rights and asked, where are those self-styled protagonists of human rights, who don’t lose a single opportunity to raise a finger against an Army soldier even when the charges are unsubstantiated, but they neither they have the courage nor conviction to condemn civilian killings by terrorists under their very nose. This, he said, has abundantly exposed them to invite the accusation of being the beneficiaries of Pak sponsored unrest in the valley.
Over the years, Dr Jitendra Singh said, a vested interest has developed in the continuance of Pak sponsored terrorism and the nexus includes some self-styled human rights activists, some non-intellectuals with intellectual pretensions and a handful of Kashmir – centric politicians who have developed the habit of winning elections and ruling the State with 10 percent voter turn out.
Exuding confidence that terrorsm in Kashmir is on its last legs, Dr Jitendra Singh accused some of the Kashmir – centric activists of having been taken aback by no significant violence or a untoward incident happening over the last eight weeks, which is an indicator that their political shops are soon going to shut.
With the shift-over to the new arrangement as Union Territory after 31st October, Dr Jitendra Singh said, there is going to be a fast paced activity and the transformation that takes place will be beyond imagination.
When asked whether terrorists could disrupt the development, Dr Jitendra Singh said, at the first place there is no possibility of terrorism lasting for long and secondly, we have the experience of North East where in the last 5 years of the Modi government people have forgotten the past which was ridden by protracted road-blocks, massive incidents of violence, incessant militant firing from hills etc.
