JAMMU, Oct 21: National Police Day–popularly known as Police Commemoration Day was observed across the Jammu and Kashmir.
The day is being observed every year in the memory and honour of SI Karam Singh and his 10 brave hearts of CRPF 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions, who on October 21, 1959, scarified their lives while holding the attack by PLA at Hot Spring in Ladakh at the height of 4681 meters above the sea level.
National Police Day was observed with a ceremonial parade at Gulshan Ground Jammu. Impressive functions were organized in all 10 districts of Jammu Province where large number of senior police officers, retired police personnel, members of the martyr’s families and members of civil society participated.
In the winter capital Jammu, the main function was conducted at Gulshan Ground Jammu where Mukesh Singh IGP Jammu Zone took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade. GOs of all Jammu based Units, apart from a large number of senior and retired police officers and prominent citizens of Jammu were present.
IGP Jammu Zone interacted with NoK of martyrs. He paid a patient hearing to the grievances of NoKs of martyrs and assured full support and timely action on the requests submitted by them.
Earlier all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station where rich tributes were paid to all the martyrs. On the occasion, a blood donation camp was also organized in which many senior officers and other volunteers including the Team Jammu donated blood.
Prominent among those who attended the function include ADGP Railways J&K, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP Armed Jammu, DC Jammu, DIG DKR Range, SSP Jammu, SSP PCR, SSP Crime, SSP Security Jammu, SSP CID SB Jammu (Nodal Officers) and Commandants of other Jammu based battalions, SSP APCR and all GOs of Jammu District, Ravinder Raina State President BJP and other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, a function was organized at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Head, Jammu. Lighting of candles and prayers were held in memory of police martyrs.
Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) Dr Rubinder Kaur, Dr Archana Chowdhary, Shabnam Mir, Anita Kumar, Dr Jayshree Tuti, IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, IGP Armed/ IRP Jammu Danesh Rana, SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh, CO IRP 14th Battalion Rajesh Bali, SP South Jammu Vinay Kumar, families of police martyrs, other PWWA members and police officers and jawans of Jammu district assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Head, Jammu to light candles and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the nation.
Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur today organized commemoration parade in its campus in memory of the martyrs of various States Police, BSF, CISF, CRPF, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home guard, ITBP, NCB, NDRF and SSB who sacrificed their lives while rendering Commendable Services and setting exemplary model of duty during the period 1-9-2018 to 31-8-2019.
Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Director SKPA Udhampur took the salute of the Commemoration Parade.
Dr Jamwal alongwith Mohan Lal, SSP Assistant Director (Outdoor) SKPA, Rakesh Kumar, SSP CO Adhoc, Kamal Sharma CPO, Ashish Rathore CPO, Surinder Kumar CPO, Ramesh Kataria, Administrative Officer, KK Sharma, DySP (Q), Suraj Singh DySP (R&D), Vidya Sagar DySP (Outdoor), all Senior Prosecutors and large number of other police officers and officials also paid tributes to the police martyrs by laying floral wreaths at the Shaheedi Smarak.
A function was held at GRP Lines Katra on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day. SSP Raiways Katra, Ranjit Singh Sambyal paid tributes at Martyrs Memorial GRP Lines Katra. The function was attended by the DC Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib, officers of CISF and RPF, Railway Department, all officers and officials of GRP Katra and prominent citizens of the locality.
In order to mark the National Police Day, a programme was held at District Police Lines Rajouri. Officers from Army, police, para military forces and civil administration including Rajouri Station Commander, Brigadier Sourabh Sharma, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Vivek Gupta, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Yougal Manhas, Commandant IRP 2nd Battalion Mohammad Rashid Bhat, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Sher Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajouri Liaqat Ali, Additional Superintendent of Police Nowshera GL Sharma and all Sub Divisional Police Officers, Deputy SPs, SHOs and Incharge Police Posts attended the function. A large number of veteran politicians, former legislators, civil society members and social activists also attended the programme. Tributes were paid to all the police and paramilitary martyrs of India and their sacrifices for the motherland and nation were remembered. Later, floral tributes were paid on the martyrs’ memorial in DPL in which all the officers and civil society members paid tributes.
Later, police authorities also held a meeting with the families of martyrs and listened to their grievances.
DIG Rajouri Poonch Range, Vivek Gupta and SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas informed all the martyr families that they are part of Police Family and redressing their grievances and providing them benefits of Government schemes will always remain a priority of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
BSF Jammu observed Police Commemertion Day. NS Jamwal, IG BSF, Jammu, Officers and all ranks paid tribute to the martyrs On Oct 21, 2019, at BSF Shaheed Memorial Paloura camp Jammu. On this occasion IG BSF Jammu read out the names of the BSF Martyrs who laid their live in the service of the Nation during current year.
Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL Reasi. SSP Reasi Rashmi Wazir paid rich tribute to the Police Martyrs and prayed for peace to the departed souls. At the end of the function, Rashmi Wazir, SSP Reasi accompanied by Indu Kanwal Chib DC Reasi distributed blankets to the next of kin of martyrs as a token of respect. The parade was attended by Anil Katoch, Principal STC Talwara, Parshotam Kumar Sharma, CO IR 1st Battalion, Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan, Additional SP Reasi, Naresh Singh Additional SP Katra, Mumtaz Ali Bhatti DySP DAR Reasi, Vassem Mehmood DySP Headquarters, Vivek Sheikhar SDPO Katra, Satish Bhardwaj SDPO Arnas and other officers from Civil, Police Administration and CRPF. Families of martyrs also witnessed the Commemoration Day Parade.
Police Commemoration Day was observed at Shaheed Samarak in DPL Ramban. SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar led the officers and personnel of J&K Police, J&K IRP, SSB and CRPF in paying the floral tributes to the martyrs. Large number of officers and officials of J&K Police, SSB, CRP and IRP were present on the occasion. SSP gave away the gifts to as many as 48 Next of Kins (NoKs) of JKP martyrs of Ramban district. The family members of local martyrs and all others present on the occasion also offered floral tributes to the martyrs.
Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur observed National Police Day. On the occasion, Police contingents participated in the Commemoration Day Parade. While speaking, Ashok Kumar, SSP, Principal PTTI Vijaypur, briefly explained the history behind this National Police Day. Lastly Principal PTTI Vijaypur, Vice Principal Manjit Kour, SSP, Shamsher Singh Sambyal, DySP, Retd Prof Baldev Raj, Retd Inspector Chudu Ram and many others laid floral wreaths and showered flowers at the Martyr’s Samark (Samadhi).
Police Commemoration Day Parade was observed at DPL Udhampur. Sujit Kumar, DIG UR Range accompanied by Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey, SSP Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Additional SP Udhampur presided over the function and the Commemoration Day parade. All the families of police martyrs of District Udhampur besides retired police personnel, prominent citizens and distinguished guests were invited for the Police Commemoration Day parade. After the guard of honour, floral tributes were paid.
District Police Poonch observed Police Commemoration Day in DPL ground. Event was conducted under the supervision of SSP Poonch Ramesh K Angral. Session Judge Madan Lal accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav and Commander 93 Brigade Manish Gupta were present for Commemoration Day parade. Prominent citizens of Poonch district, students of various schools, other officials and families of martyr were also present. Later, Poonch interacted with the NOKs of martyrs and heard to their grievances and assured them to redress it as early as possible. Gifts were distributed to them as a token of respect.
National Police Day was observed at District Headquarters Kishtwar. In this context, an elaborated function was organized in the District Police Lines Kishtwar in the memory of martyrs. SSP Kishtwar Dr Harmeet Singh Mehta paid rich tributes to all those martyrs who laid down their lives for unity and integrity of the nation. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana, Officers from Army, CAPF, Civil Administration, local police besides NoKs of the martyrs and retired police personnel also attended the function. Later, SSP Kishtwar interacted with the NoKs of the martyrs and listened to their grievances and issued on the spot instructions for their redressal. SSP also distributed gifts among the NoKs of martyrs and retired police personnel.
On Police Commemoration Day, Akhnoor based 89 Battalion of SSB paid tributes to BSF martyrs at Shaheedi Sathals in the schools from where they studied last. The officers and officials paid floral tributes to the martyrs. A grand programme was organized at Government Model Higher Secondary School Pallanwala, wherein Commandant Sunil Kumar honoured the NoKs of martyrs. Assistant Commandant Jagat Singh, Inspector LB Yadav, SI Sunil Kumar, Sarpanch, Inspector Khour KP Singh, locals, Principal GMHSS Pallanwala Govind Ram Sharma, students and staff were also present.
To observe Police Commemoration Day, Jammu based battalions of CRPF organized functions and paid tributes to the martyrs including October 21, 1959 martyrs. In a function organized at Group Centre CRPF Bantalab, IG Jammu Sector Subhas Chander addressed the gathering and threw light on the importance of the day. The programme was organized under the supervision of DIG Group Centre Bantalab SP Singh. A programme was also organized at 166 Battalion CRPF Sidhra, wherein Commandant Prem Chand Gupta along with others paid tributes to the martyrs of October 21, 1959. The officers of 166 Battalion CRPF Anil Kumar, Shakti Singh, Amit Kumar, Jagjit Singh, Shivnandan Singh, officers and officials were also present.
Kathua Police today observed Police Commemoration Day in DPL. On the occasion, Om Prakash Bhagat, DC Kathua, Additional Session Judge Kathua Jatinder Singh Jamwal, CJM Kathua Yash Paul Sharma, District Traffic Mobile Magistrate Deputy Kumar, officers of Army, CAPF, Retired Army and Police officers, martyrs families, prominent citizens, Municipal Presidents Kathua, Nagri and Lakhanpur alongwith Municipal Committee Members and public participated in wreath laying ceremony. The function began with Commemoration Day Parade. All the attendees paid rich tribute to the Martyrs. SSP Kathua said that JKP always stands firmly with martyrs’ families and extend all possible support to them. Families of Police Martyrs were felicitated with gifts.
Police Commemoration Day parade was observed at DPL Doda. The contingents of CRPF 76th Battalion, IRP 5th Battalion and District Police Doda participated in the Commemoration Day parade. Floral tributes were offered to the police martyrs by DDC Dr Sagar D Doifode, SSP Mumtaz Ahmed, other guests and family members of the deceased policemen. Officers interacted with the family members of the deceased policemen and listened to their grievances and assured them of early redressal. Among others present were SP Ops, Ravinder Pal Singh, Commandant IRP 5th Battalion SK Khajuria, ASP Doda, ASP Bhaderwah, DySP Headquarters and DySP DAR DPL Doda.
Police Commemoration Day Parade was held at DPL Anantnag, in which contingents of different forces including District Police Anantnag, Armed Police, CRPF and IRP participated. DIG South Kashmir Range Atul Kumar Goyal who was the chief guest on the occasion accompanied by SSP Anantnag Altaf Ahmad Khan took salute. The martyrs’ day Parade was commanded by DySP Rafee Ahmad. On the occasion, a blood donation camp was also organized in which DIG CRPF Dileep Singh Ambesh, 2 IC 40 Battalion CRPF Vassu Dev, DySP HQRS Anantnag Burhan Kanth and other senior officers and officials of police donated their blood. District and Sessions Judge Anantnag Pervaiz Hussain Kachroo, DC Anantnag Khalid Jahangèer, CO 19 RR, CO 3rd RR, SP OPS Anantnag, CO 40 Battalion CRPF, Additional SP Headquarters Anantnag, DySP Headquarters Anantnag, DySP DAR and other senior police, CRPF and Administrative Officers were present. Families of the martyrs were also present on the occasion and also gifts were provided to the kins of the martyrs.
Police Commemoration Day parade was held at DPL Pulwama. A large number of Army, paramilitary forces and police officers attended the parade. A blood donation camp was organized in which 62 points of blood were donated by Police and CRPF personnel. The civilian and police martyrs’ families also attended the programme. At the conclusion, DC Pulwama and SP Pulwama interacted with the NoKs of police martyrs and assured them all possible support and as a token of respect distributed gifts among the NoKs of martyrs.
District Police Leh observed National Police Commemoration Day at DPL Choglamsar. The Commemoration Day commenced with General Parade, guard of honour followed by two minutes silences in memory of martyrs who laid their lives for the sake of nation. Later, a wreath laying ceremony was held in which police officers headed by SSP Sargun Shukla, retired police officers, family members and relatives of martyrs participated. ITBF Joint Deputy Director Ashish Kumar Singh, SP CID Stanzin Losal, SDRF DySP Sonam Dorjay, Jail DySP Rigzin Sangrup, DPL DySP Ashique Hussain Malik, Airport DySP Aslam Mir, Chief Prosecuting DySP Tsering Phuntsog, DySP Tundup Dorjay, CRP DySP, SHOs and other police officer, jawans and kins of martyrs were also present.
