JAMMU, Oct 28: Different organisations here today celebrated Vishwakarma Day with fervour and gaiety.
An impressive programme was organised with religious fervour and gaiety at Vishwakarma Temple on Akhnoor Road, Mishriwala to celebrate Vishwakarma Day where Yugal Kishore Sharma, MP was the chief guest and Sham Lal Sharma, Former Minister was guest of honour. A large number of people from different sections of the society including women and children belonging to block Marh and Bhalwal joined the celebrations to get the blessings of Bhagwan Vishwakarma. Children sang Vishwakarma Bhajans. Notebooks were distributed by Shree Vishwakarma Library to the children. Mangal Dass Verma, founder member of the Temple & Chairman said, Bhagwan Vishwakarma is creator of this universe and is worshipped all over the India and abroad.
Vishwakarma Jayanti was celebrated in Kathua wherein devotees of Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji under the supervision of Kartar Chand Verma, Vishwakarma Sabha president organised Pooja and other rituals. MP Shamsher Singh Manhas was the chief guest on this occasion while Ex-MLA Charanjit Jastoria, Devinder Verma, President Industrial Association Kathua were the guests of honour. A Shobha Yatra was also taken out by the Sabha. Speaking on the occasion MP Manhas threw light on works of Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji who is popularly known as the architect of the world.
Department of Agriculture, Jammu celebrated Vishwakarma Day at Government Agriculture Workshop. Director Agriculture, Jammu, P.S Rathore was the chief guest of the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Rathore stressed on the need for modernization of whole setup of the workshop for developing farmer friendly machinery and tools as the agriculture mechanization is one of the key interventions aimed at doubling the income of farmers by 2022. He issued instructions to prepare comprehensive DPR after proper survey of the additional requirements to further upgrade the Agriculture Workshop. Rathore also interacted with the workers and staff of these units to know about their problems and other operational difficulties. Vishwakarma Day celebrations were also held at Seed Processing Plant, Mushroom Development and Training Centre, Seed Multiplication Farms of the department at Chinore and Chakrohi. On this occasion worship of tools and machines was held with special prayers for safety of the operators and workers were conducted followed by distribution of Prasad.
Vishwakarma Day was celebrated with great pomp and show at Vishwakarma Temple Vijaypur where a Langar was also organized. Vishwakarma temples in the town were decorated by the devotees. Goldsmiths, motor mechanics and black-smiths had kept their shops closed on this day.
Vishwakarma Day was celebrated by NMC activists with religious fervour as the working class worshipped Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji by performing Pooja at a function in Gandhi Nagar. Speaking on the occasion, NMC President, Subash Shastri threw light on relevance of the day and engineering miracles of Bhagwan Vishwakarma. He said that Bhagwan Vishwakarma is considered as the creator of the world and He had made the holy city of Dwarka, where Krishna ruled. Vishwakarma was also the creator of many fabulous weapons for the Gods. Shastri further said that Bhagwan Vishwakarma also known as the God of carpenters, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, masons etc. Among others who spoke on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jammwal, Surinder Kumar, Darshan Bawa, Suraj Prakash, Ramesh Sharma, J.P Sharma, Tarsem and Sukhdev.
On Vishwakarma Day, Hawan and Bhajan Kirtan was held at Vishwakarma Temple, New Plots under the supervision of Ram Lal, Vishwakarma Sabha president. Speaking on the occasion Lal said that celebration of Vishwakarma Day has been in practice right from the beginning of Diwali festival. He also demanded gazetted holiday on Bhagwan Vishwakarma Day. Joginder Angotra, General Secretary and Raman Chalotra, President of Youth Wing of Vishwakarma Sabha extended Vishwakarma Day greetings to the public. A Langer was also arranged for the devotees on this occasion.
Vishwakarma Jaynti was celebrated in Udhampur with religious fervour and enthusiasm by Vishwakarma Committee Udhampur. A large number of devotees of Bhagwan Vishwakarma participated in Hawan-Yagya. Shabad Kirtan and preaching of Bhagwan Vishwakarma were also delivered among the devotees. Later on a Shobha Yatra was organized by the Committee which started from Vishwakarma temple and after passing through Kargl Hanuman Temple road, Domail, Dhar Road, Barrian, Salathia Chowk, Court Road, Mukerji Bazar, Gole Market, Dabber Chowk and Town Hall culminated at the point of its start.
