MOGA, Oct 29: Several Sikh outfits, except Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal (SAD-B) and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), have unanimously decided to organise 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Dera Baba Nanak on November 12 and would not participate in separate stages of the SGPC and the Punjab government on November 9.
A senior leader of one of the outfits, who attended the meeting on the condition of anonymity, said all the organisations were in aggressive mood against SGPC, SAD-B and Congress as they were not bothered to invite or share to organised celebrations at Sultanpur Lodhi on November 9 as all these three parties considered themselves as representatives of Sikh community.
Those attended the meeting included Baba Sarbjot Singh Bedi, Veteran Akali Dal leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, who resigned as SAD leader in the Rajya Sabha, former Punjab Assembly Speaker and now SAD 1920 president Ravi Inder Singh, SAD Taksali Secretary and spokesperson Karnail Singh Peermohammad, AAP MLA Kultar Singh Sandwan and some SGPC members, he added.
He said it is unfortunate that the SGPC, Captain Government and SAD-B never bothered to accept the directions of the Akal Takhat for attending joint stage of Sultanpur Lodhi celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak dev Ji. These parties were also critical of their dictatorial attitude towards other organizations.
Due to under these circumstances, he said all the parties that attended the meeting were unanimous for having a third front in the state to guide people and a decision in this respect would be likely announced at Dera Baba Nanak meeting on November 12. (UNI)
