Cross border terrorism major problem in Kashmir: Prof Gupta

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 29: The former Union Minister of State and three times member Lok Sabha as also three times member of the State Assembly, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has emphasized the need to dispel the impression that the Valley of Kashmir alone is the entire State of J&K as is being projected by certain vested interests.
Prof. Gupta in his statement said that the troubled Valley is just about 1/8th of the entire State and in the Valley too, all people are not separatists or semi-separatists who are creating a hell of the situation under communal and other considerations.
The recent election to the Block Development Councils (BDC), about 98 percent Panch’s and Sarpanch’s cast their votes despite boycott call by such outfits. The major problem is the aggressive designs of theocratic State of Pakistan indulging in cross border terror and making the life miserable.
The Jehadi approach and radicalism have caused great harm to the mankind. The minorities in Pak occupied areas formed over 30 percent before the aggression by theocratic Pakistan in 1947 have been totally eliminated. After the cleanse of minorities in PoK, their next target was the Valley of Kashmir. The radicals on onset of the proxy war forced the exodus of minorities from the Valley to the extent that over five lakh Kashmiri Pandits have become refugees within their own country, he added and questioned the secular credentials of those who still talk for autonomy and Azadi.
Prof. Gupta hailed the abrogation of controversial Article 370 and observed that this existed in the statue book for seven decades despite being temporary.
All this have generated more problems than any good to the people. But the vested interests are obviously perturbed over the end of the root of many wrongs and their fiefdom and monopoly.
He emphasized that early and effective measures should be taken to rectify the wrongs including that of regional disparities and injustice done to the backward classes and scheduled tribes.
Prof. Gupta also said that Pakistan has no locus standi in J&K except that of being an aggressor and illegally occupying large areas to the extent of using these for breeding terror and subversive activities. All this needed to be checked effectively, he added.
He sought for well planned measures for the return and rehabilitation of the migrants to the Valley who are out in a sad situation and failure of the rulers to ensure their return over the years despite their masquerading as secular and humanists.
