Corruption charges framed against Station Suptd Rly

JAMMU, Oct 31: Special Judge Anti-Corruption (CBI cases) Rajesh Sekri has framed charges under Prevention of Corruption Act against Ajay Kumar Gupta, Station Superintendent Railway Station Jammu for allegedly demanding bribe of Rs 10,000 per month from Ashwani Kumar for allowing him to smoothly run operation of his vehicle parking business.
According to the CBI case, on 08.03.2019 one Ashwani Kumar, Railway Parking Contractor lodged a complaint before the Superintendent of Police CBI Jammu alleging that the Station Superintendent was demanding bribe of Rs 10,000 per month from him for allowing him to smoothly run operation of his vehicle parking business.
The complainant further alleged that he had called him on 07.03.2019 in the afternoon on his mobile and asked him to come to his office with the bribe amount of Rs. 10,000/-.
Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid and the Station Superintendent was caught while demanding and accepting bribe.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “the accused officer has committed offences punishable under Sections 4-A and 5(2) read with 5(1) (d) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act”.
