UDHAMPUR, Nov 3: A father along with his young son and daughter were killed while seven persons were critically injured when a truck, carrying two nomadic families, rolled down in a deep gorge near Samroli on the National Highway, here today in the wee hours.
The truck, bearing registration number JK02W-1075, was on its way from Kashmir to Jammu when its driver lost control over the vehicle resulting into the fatal accident around 3.15 am today, under the jurisdiction of Chenani Police Station.
The truck rolled down around 150 feet deep gorge resulting into death of three victims on the spot and critical injuries to seven others. On getting information, Chenani Police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Sub District Hospital Chenani where doctors referred them to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of their critical condition.
The deceased persons were identified as Abdul Rashid (50), son of Mahmood of Nagrota, his son Mukhtyar (22) and 16-year old daughter Nazia. Wife of Abdul Rashid, namely Marfa (40) and their six-year old daughter Shazia are among the injured.
Other injured were identified as Mohamed Harban (27), son of Zahoor of Panthal, his wife Nasib Bibi (26), their daughters Uzma (6) and Nusrat (4) and driver Gurmit Singh (48), son of Joginder Singh of Mira Sahib Jammu. Condition of all the injured was stated to be serious.
