CHENNAI, Nov 7:The Tamil Nadu Government will soon be releasing the Electronics Hardware Manufacturing Policy, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced today.Inaugurating the 18th edition of ‘Connect-2019’, an international conference and exhibition on Information and Communication Technology, organised by the CII with the theme ‘Technology at the heart of India’s USD Five Trillion economy’ here, he said the new policy would enable new start-ups, companies which would bring lot of investments and lot of jobs and contribute largely to the economic development of the State.
Recalling his appeal made in the 20018 meet to the Captains of Industry to
extend continued support by way of fresh investments in the State, he said
in response to his appeal, Tamil Nadu has already received Rs 6,500 crore as investments in the last one year.
“This has resulted in 60,100 new employments in Tamil Nadu. IT/ITeS sector exports have increased nearly 10 per cent and employment has increased by four per cent in the last one year”, he said and thanked the Captains of the Industry.
Stating that software exports in 2018-19 stood at Rs 1 lakh 22,899 crore, Mr Palaniswami said this has generated 6.50 lakh jobs and Tamilnadu was one of the frontline states in software exports and job creation.He also appealed to the Captains of Industries and delegates to extend their cooperation in establishing new IT Industries in emerging technologies like Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence etc., and thereby increase employment opportunity to every family and provide efficient services to every citizen of Tamil Nadu.
