JAMMU, Nov 7: With an aim to promote the merit and instill a spirit of competition among the wards of police personnel, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has granted meritorious scholarship of Rs 2.06 lakh in favour of 37 wards of serving police personnel and deceased police personnel who expired while in service due to natural or accidental deaths.
The meritorious scholarship has been sanctioned in favour of these wards for their performance in the different examinations of different classes during the academic session 2018-19. The scholarship has been granted out of the Central Police Welfare Fund.
The scholarship of Rs 12,000 has been granted in favour of one ward for securing above 80 percent marks and Rs 8,500 each in favour of 4 wards who have secured above eighty percent marks in Post Graduation/ Graduation examination.
Scholarship of Rs 5,000 each has also been sanctioned for 32 wards of police personnel (who expired while in service due to natural/accidental deaths) for studying in graduate, middle classes and primary classes for academic session 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Police Headquarters under its welfare schemes has introduced various scholarships to encourage the meritorious wards of serving and retired police personnel. Rewards and scholarships are granted to such wards to inculcate talent and spirit of competition among them. Besides financial assistance are provided to the wards of police martyrs annually to continue their education.
