Cop, his surrendered militant brother among 3 booked for looting saffron trader

RAJOURI, Nov 9: A Policeman and his surrendered militant brother among three persons have been booked for allegedly looting and assaulting a saffron trader in Rajouri.
Even as the prime accused, identified as Mohammad Mustafa Shah of Sankri, who is a retired Government teacher, has been arrested and looted saffron along with two 12-bore guns were seized, the accused brothers are still absconding and search was on to arrest the duo.
Giving details, SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas said that departmental proceedings have also been initiated against the accused Police constable Mushtaq Shah of Budhal for his involvement in the criminal case.
“Retired teacher Mohd Mustafa Shah hatched a conspiracy with the policeman and his brother Guddu Shah to snatch saffron from trader Afsar Hussain during a visit to his village Sankari. When the victim, who was in contact with Mustafa, reached Sankari to sell the Saffron, the trio overpowered and assaulted him. They also threatened him with 12 bore guns and snatched saffron and forced him to run from the village,” said the SSP and added that a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Indian Arms Act was registered in this connection.
A raid was conducted on Mustafa’s house, during which he was arrested and the snatched saffron and two 12-bore guns were recovered while search was on to nab the accused cop and his brother, who is a surrendered militant.
