JAMMU, Mar 16: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua, M K Hanjura has denied the bail to narcotics smuggler Surinder Singh.
According to the police case, the petitioner namely Surinder Singh, Manjeet Singh and one of their associate were arrested along with 1010 intoxicant capsules.
After hearing Advocate T N Gupta for the petitioner whereas Public Prosecutor Ravi Kumar Gupta for the State, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the instant petition from perspective of what is stated in the notification, the entire mixture or substance of a particular drug is relevant from determining the quantity of drug and not its pure content”, adding “the weight of seized capsules has been stated to be 638 grams. This attracts that bar created by Section 37 of NDPS Act”.
Accordingly, the Court dismissed the bail application of Surinder Singh.
