RAJOURI, Mar 16: A group of ASHA workers, Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) from State Health Department and Anganwadi Workers from Social Welfare Department were deputed by the District Red Cross Rajouri for training on Comprehensive Rural Health project at Jamkhed (Ahmednagar) in Maharashtra.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Saugat Biswas who is also chairman of District Red Corss flagged off a group of 27 workers from these two departments today. 14 ASHA workers, two from each Medical block, six ANMs one from each Medical and 7 AWWs one from each ICDS block have been nominated for the said training programme.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Biswas stated that all the three wings are expected to play a vital role in uplifting the rural health care by involving community in its various aspects. He disclosed that District Red Cross has selected comprehensive Rural Health Project, Jamkhed as the training ground because its has been working among the rural poor and marginalized for over 40 years and has become an organization that has been empowering people to eliminate injustice through integrated efforts in health and development. He said the work of CRHP has been recognized by the WHO and UNICEF and has been introduced to 178 countries in the world.
Secretary, District Red Cross Society Sadiq Khan claimed that the training programme has been innovatively conceived by designated by District Red Cross Society under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner. The funds for the same have been secured from National Rural Health Mission as a pilot project in J&K.
