SAMBA, Nov 13: The shopkeepers of Link Road market in Samba are facing worst insanitation problem due to drainage blockade for the last two months.
The shopkeepers of the area have expressed their resentment against the concerned authorities for not removing the blockade despite repeated pleas.
The shopkeepers of the Link Road Market alleged that the drainage blockade problem persists for the last two months. “We have also complained to the Municipal Committee several times but the authorities have not paid any attention to it, due to which the water enters the shops daily adding to the woes of shopkeeper and they are very upset as no one from Municipality or administration bothers to solve the problem”.
Mohan Kumar, a shopkeeper of the market, said the drainage blockade has increased their worries as there is foul smell emitting from every side and the drainage water which enters shops many times has perished their goods also.
He said no Safai Karamchari comes to clean the drain. “We clean the drain ourselves so that dirty water does not come in our stores”, he added.
The shopkeepers said “whenever there is a rainy season, due to the drainage block, water enters in the shops, which causes a lot of damage to us”.
Shopkeepers of Link Road Market of Samba have appealed to DC Samba, Rohit Khajuria to get this drain renovated and cleaned as soon as possible so that shopkeepers do not face any problem.
Excelsior correspondent while talking with Executive Officer, MC Samba, Ajay Sangra, said that shopkeepers have laid slabs in front of some shops, due to which there is no space, the drain gets blocked. But the Safai Karamcharis clean the drain daily.
