*Reviews security in Ganderbal, Handwara

SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh today stated that the Pakistan is continuing with its proxy war and causing death and destruction on the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and disrupting the peace and order in the union territory.
“J&K Police and other security forces are continuously fighting the Pakistan and we will continue to fight for the security and integrity of our nation,” the DGP said and emphasized upon officers and Jawans to foil the wicked acts/designs of the elements inimical to the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that the subversion and terrorism are to be uprooted so that the general masses could live in a peaceful atmosphere which is their priority.
The DGP was addressing the darbars of police personnel at Ganderbal and Handwara, during which he complimented the officers and Jawans of Police, Army and CAPF for their tireless efforts and dedication in maintaining peace and order in their respective areas. He said that in last 30 years there were lots of ups and downs in the security situation but the police personnel along with other security agencies have taken up these challenges bravely and dealt with them firmly.
The DGP said that the good work done by the J&K Police and the other forces is being recognized at every forum including the Government of India. “Some grievances of the force like hike in SPOs salary, hardship allowance, pay anomaly etc, have already been redressed, “he added.
The police chief heard the grievances of Jawans regarding the transfer and general welfare measures for the personnel. He gave on spot direction to redress the requests and assured that genuine grievances will be taken care off.
Dilbag Singh also impressed upon the officers to take the drive against drugs as a mission till the menace is completely uprooted from the society. He said that the police are strengthening its bonds with the people who are supporting the force in their fight against the drugs.
Earlier, the DGP reviewed the security scenario in both Ganderbal and Handwara districts. He took a round of the Ganderbal town from Tawheed Chowk to Beehama and Malshahi Bagh to review the security situation of the area on ground. DIG CKR V K Birdhi also briefed the police chief on security scenario of the district.
In Handwara the DGP chaired a joint review meeting which was attended by IGP Kashmir SP Pani and DIG NKR Mohammad Suleman Chowdary and officers of Army, CRPF, ITBP and BSF. SSP Handwara Ashish Mishra briefed the DGP about the security scenario of the area.
