State Govt insensible towards tribal communities: Poswal

JAMMU, Mar 17: Accusing the State Government of its non-serious and apathetic attitude towards tribal communities of the J&K, Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha today alleged that the State Government has failed to convince the Centre for getting the funds released under SCA to TSP and Article 275 (1) of the Constitution of India thereby depriving the tribal communities of their due share.
In a statement issued here today, State president of the Mahasabha, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, said that the Govt’s reply regarding details of expenditures and beneficiaries of funds under SCA and TSP and Article 275, is in itself a testimony that the State  is least bothered about the welfare of tribal communities.
“The State Government doesn’t have funds in its kitty under SCA to TSP. From where will the betterment of tribal communities come? “, he questioned and added that the State Government in its reply said that it has not received funds under SCA to TSP but in Lump-Sum.
“What does Lump-Sum mean?, Poswal questioned and added that despite repeated letters to the State Government regarding proper utilization of funds under Tribal Sub Plan, no reply has been given so far.
He regretted that the Government’s reply regarding the details of beneficiaries under SCA to TSP indicates the lack of transparency. The Government did not mention the details of beneficiaries saying that the information is ‘Voluminous’ but  there are no beneficiaries so how could the Government  give their details, the Gujjar leader added.
Poswal appealed Prime Minister to take serious note of the plight of 12 tribal communities residing along the borders of the State and which have contributed a lot towards the national cause.
