MIET provides financial incentives to faculty for research publications

JAMMU, Nov 23: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) organized its Annual Research Awards function felicitating faculty members who published high-quality research publications, filed patents and completed consultancy projects.
Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Director College Development Council, University of Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairperson MIER Group, presided over the event.
Prof Arvind Jasrotia gave away the Research Awards and financial incentives to the faculty members. He felt that the research focus of MIET is unique in the private sector in J&K. He appreciated the concept of the Research Awards and the significant development activities at MIET including the Performance Insight 360 quality analytics software and the E-Rickshaw which was built out of automobile scrap.
Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, presented the research report. During the last year, MIET faculty published 48 research papers, filed 3 patents, undertook one consultancy assignment and developed a prototype of an E-Rickshaw, he said. One patent was granted to Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET on an innovative method to speed-up network fault detection. Out of the published papers, more than half are indexed in Science Citation Index (SCI/SCIE) and Scopus. Moreover, the International Journal of Next-Generation Computing (IJNGC) published by MIET in association with the University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA got indexed in Thomson Reuters Web-of-Science besides being included in the recently revised UGC-CARE list of journals.
Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairperson, while speaking on the occasion, stressed that research needs to be demystified and everyone has the potential to be a good researcher if they can formulate basic questions and seek answers to those by following a scientific methodology. He congratulated the faculty members on their achievements and outlined a vision for MIET to be recognized as a credible center for technical research in the region.
Other dignitaries, who were present on the occasion, included Dr Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER; Prof S K Sharma, Director Academics MIET; Prof G S Sambyal, Professor of Computer Applications; Professor P N Sharma, Head MIET School of Management; Prof B C Sharma, Dean Placements; Prof V K Naik, Head Civil Engineering and Prof D S Jamwal, Head Engineering Mathematics. The event was coordinated by Ruksana Salathia, Quality Assurance Officer.
