Traffic suspended on NH for 12 hrs

RAMBAN, Nov 23: The movement of vehicular traffic remained suspended on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for about 12 hours after landslides struck Ramsu area of Ramban sector during early hours today.

Official sources said that due to rain during last night, the landslides blocked the highway at Digdol sliding zone at around 3 am. The movement of traffic was suspended on the highway. The shooting stones at Panthial also created disruption for several hours on the road.
The National Highway authorities launched road clearance work in the morning after weather improved and the highway could be restored at around 3 pm today.
The stranded light vehicles were cleared for both sides at first, followed by movement of other vehicles, a Traffic Police official said.
