It looks unlikely that materials produced by Small Scale Industrial Units in Jammu and procured by various agencies and departments of the Government should not be paid for and also paid in time. These units are otherwise susceptible to various problems which calls for such payments to be released to them promptly to enable them maintain necessary inventory of input raw materials to keep the cycle of their production activities going. Any disruption in the cycle of production activities like funds shortage, non availability of raw material, power disruptions etc were imperilling the units’ performance and their profits most of them have to repay their loans with interest to the financing banks.
The position reportedly being to an extent of creating of financial crisis faced by the concerned unit holders as has been disclosed by the office bearers of Bari Brahmana Industries Association who have alleged that various Government departments having procured material against valid purchase orders were not paid for, is totally unjustified. It is alleged that nearly over Rs. 300 crore were due to be released to such unit holders which is pending for months together. We urge the UT Government to look into the issue on priority and arrange releasing the payments to the concerned unit holders at an early date.
