Pareeksha conveys message that it is not important to study in convent school to perform well: Prakash Jha

PANAJI, Nov 24:
Award winning filmmaker Prakash Jha has said that his new film Pareeksha tries to convey a message that it is not important that a student will perform well only if he studies in convent school.
Speaking to UNI, the ace director said,” There is a message in the film that it is not necessary that a student will do well if he has studied in convent school. There is a perception in our society that a child must secure admission in a big convent school, everything is possible only in those schools. This perspective also opens up in the film and it says it is not so. The role played by Sanjay Suri gives the same message.”
He said the film also says only truth and honesty triumph. ”A child teaches his father, who is just crazy, in simple ways that truth is a big thing,” he added.
The filmmaker, who has produced and directed 14 feature films and over 25 documentaries and has won ten National Awards, hoped that people would like the film.
”I hope that people will like it. The story is of a poor and helpless father who pulls rickshaw. He dreams about his son and works very hard. There is a mother who is always after her son’s study. They know that if their life is going to improve then it would be only through education. Which is what the whole theme is about. The story is about the extent a father can go to ensure proper study of his son,” he said.
On emotion quotient in the film, the director of films like ‘Raajneeti’, ‘Apharan’, ‘Gangajal’ and ‘Damul’ said, ”Emotion is part of our life. It’s emotion which works behind teaching and efforts to ensure that students are treated equally and they perform well in life. The story is very simple and I will treat it as it is. There is no point in making it complex by bringing other things. The way I understood the film, we all worked on it.”
Pareeksha is being screened in Indian Panorama (Feature Films) section at the 50th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI). (UNI)
