Army pays tributes to martyred soldier

SRINAGAR, Nov 25: Army today paid a befitting tribute to Late Naik Peera Ram, who made the supreme sacrifice on November 24, 2019 in Keran Sector of Kupwara.

In a solemn ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantt, Maj Gen GS Kahlon, Chief of Staff Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of the proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr.
Naik Peera Ram sustained grievous injuries when he slipped and fell while on a patrol in inclement weather and snowfall in the mountainous terrain along the Line of Control in Northern Kashmir. He was rescued by his team, but unfortunately succumbed to his grave injuries later.
Late Naik Peera Ram was 29 years- old and had joined the Army in 2008. He belonged to village Khema Pura of Barmer district, Rajasthan and is survived by his wife and two sons.
The mortal remains of the martyr Naik were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and wellbeing, a defence spokesman said.
