2 drug peddlers arrested, 7.5 kgs poppy straw recovered

SAMBA, Nov 26: Continuing its drive against the drug menace in the society, District Police Samba arrested two Punjab based drug smugglers and recovered 7.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw at NHW Tapyal in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Ghagwal.
A Police Party of Police Station, Ghagwal headed by SHO, Inspector, Sudhir Sadhotra under the supervision of Dy.SP Operations, Samba, Arvind Kotwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NHW, Tapyal, Ghagwal intercepted a tractor with trolley bearing Registration Number, PB55-859 which was moving towards Kathua side. During checking of the tractor, 7.5 Kg of Poppy Straw was recovered from a seat behind the driver.
The accused driver namely Malkeet Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Pakhowal Raikot, Ludhiana and his associate Wazir Khan, S/o Mithu Khan R/O Gomti Kala Chool, Bathinda have been arrested and the contraband items was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 101/2019 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act stand registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
