UDAHMPUR, Nov 28: A joint protest demonstration was organised by Banihal Route Union Udhampur, 2×2 Bus Service Union, Matadoor Union, Taxi Union and Auto Rikshaw Union against Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and local Member Parliament for increasing registration fees of all type of vehicles and declare all sorts of vehicles off the road after the 15 years from the date of its registrations. In this connection, a protest rally today started from MH Chowk and reached at the office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur by passing through Mini Stadium Dabbar Chowk, Mukherji Bazar, Ramnagar Chowk, Court Road, Sallathia Chowk and Dhar Road.
At Salathia Chowk, the protesting people burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitin Gadkari for expressing their resentment.
While addressing the protesting people, the speakers condemned the new transport policies of present Government under the Ministry of Roads and Transport headed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari . Speakers have expressed that increased of registration fees of all sort of vehicle to the tune of 9% of its value is not acceptable at any cost and it is also not acceptable to declare condom all sort of vehicle after the expiry of 15 years from the date its registration.
Speaker further disclosed that a large number of unemployed youth have adopted driving as full time profession for their livelihood . Thakur Ramdev Singh, Manager Banihal Route Union, Nasir Hussian Assistant Manager Banihal Route Bus Service Union, Darshan Singh Kotwal Chairman Matadoor Union, Inayet Ali president Matadoor Union, Bablu Kumar president Auto Union, Ravi Kalsi president Taxi Union and Gurdeep Singh president 2×2 Bus Service Union also addressed the gathering.
Later, protesting people submitted a memorandum of their grievances to the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, who assured them that their memorandum will be submitted to higher authority in the State administration.
