J&K needs vibrant tourism policy to boost economy: Priya Sethi

NEW DELHI, Nov 29: Former Minister, spokesperson J&K BJP, Priya Sethi said that UT of J&K needs a vibrant tourism policy for boosting its economy which is now possible after the annulling of Article 370 and 35 A by Narendra Modi Government .
While speaking at Kashmironomics she said that now the newly created Union Territories are free from dynastic politics, so the territories of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh can flourish now as best Union Territories of India.
Priya Sethi the former Minister from the J&K who spoke in Kashmironomics’ First on-ground event draws policy roadmap for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh’s economic development concluded at the Lalit, New Delhi.
This was a first in a series of events to help kick-start economic development for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Former Tourism Minister, Priya said that tourism should be one of the principle engine of economic development in the UT by positioning it as a leading global destination, contribute to economic and social well-being of the people of Jammu & Kashmir by providing employment opportunities, inclusive development and promotional policies with an aim to achieve internationally competitive tourism sector focused on sustainable growth”.
Development of new destinations on wellness, Tribal Tourism, theme park tourism, Golf tourism unexplored areas, sports etc. Should be undertaken in the newly created Union Territories.
“We should make a policy which encourages the film industry to come in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh along with Mine Tourism which is important sector in Jammu region of Kishtwar area.
She urged the people present there for the PP mode concept so that people will invest in the UTs which will increase the economy of both the territories.
She said that the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh can emerge as a role model in terms of development.
Key Government functionaries, businessmen, and economists were part of multiple panel sessions to draw economic roadmap for the region.
The event witnessed a congregation of business leaders from the region, economists, opinion makers and Government functionaries to discuss pertinent policy and economic issues to kick-start the region’s financial growth.
The event saw multiple panel sessions, with discussions on exploring ways to evolve an ecosystem that help businesses thrive in the region, key steps needed to ensure a secure environment for the industry, making social and infrastructure growth an inherent part of economic development, and finding ways to promote entrepreneurship in the region.
While appreciating the efforts of Siddharth Zarabi, co-founder of Kashmironomics who organised the conclave,Priya Sethi said that such programmes should be now regularly organised but at Jammu, Srinagar and Ladakh too.
