SAMBA, Nov 30: District Police Samba today solved chain snatching case and arrested three persons including two chain snatchers operating in the area and recovered gold chain weighing 22.50 grams from their possession.
Police said on September 30, one lady namely Lalita Devi, W/o Ashok Kumar, R/o Jakh Chhani, Vijaypur had lodged a written report at Police Station, Vijaypur that two unknown bikers coming from Bari Brahmana side going towards Vijaypur side snatched her golden chain at Jakh Chowk Vijaypur and fled away from the spot.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR No. 150/2019 U/S 382/201/411 RPC was registered at Police Station, Vijaypur and investigation started. During the course of investigation, two suspects were detained who on sustained interrogation confessed their involvement in the chain snatching incident. They have been identified as Sanjeev Singh S/o Jagdish Singh R/o Chorli, Bishnah and Vikrant Singh S/o Ashok Singh R/o Gurha Slathia, Vijaypur. On their disclosure, snatched gold chain was recovered. However the motorcycle without Regd. No. used for chain snatching has already been seized in a different case registered at P/S Vijaypur.
Moreover, one jeweller namely Deepak Kumar, S/o Tarlok Nath, R/o W.No. 1 Samba who used to purchase stolen and snatched gold items from the accused persons was also arrested on their disclosure. The recovered gold chain has been handed over to its owner Lalita Devi W/o Ashok Kumar R/o Jakh Chhani, Vijaypur by SDPO Vijaypur after completing legal formalities.
The arrests as well recovery were made by the police team of P/S Vijaypur headed by SHO Vijaypur, Inspector, Chaman Gorkha under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur, Dr. Lov Karan Singh.
