Jat Sabha delegation calls on LG, submits memorandum

JAMMU, Dec 2: A delegation of All J&K Jat Sabha (AJKSS) led by its president and former Minister, Manjit Singh today called on the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, UT, Girish Chandra Murmu and submitted a memorandum of demands to him.
During interaction with the Lt Governor the Jat Sabha delegation vociferously raised the demand of inclusion of Jat community of Jammu and Kashmir into OBC category file for which is already lying pending with the Raj Bhawan.
The delegation also apprised the Lt Governor regarding the recent demolition drive conducted by administration at Jammu Airport in a cavalier manner on a rainy day and the residents including elderly people and toddlers were made to spent night outside. The delegation urged upon the Lt Governor to direct authorities not to conduct any further eviction drive till the winter season is over. Taking serious note of it Lt Governor assured the delegation that no further demolition drive would be conducted till the winter is over and also assured to rehabilitate all the households dislodged or to be dislodged from Jammu Airport.
The delegation also demanded special recruitment drive for border area as the youth living along International Border are worst victims of unemployment. The delegation further raised the issue of crop damages due to incessant rains that lashed recently in Jammu and Kashmir following which the farmers’ community has suffered a huge loss.
Lt Governor assured them that the authorities would be directed appropriately to take necessary action for redressal of all the genuine demands.
The other members of the delegation include Sukhnandan Choudhary (former Minister), Vikram Randhawa (former MLC), Surinder Choudhary (former MLC), Taranjit Singh Tony and Dwarka Choudhary (Corporator JMC).
